The 150cm lumi LED Tube Light replaces the 5ft fluorescent tubes and can simply be put into your existing fitting without the starter. Just simply unplug the starter which looks like this (it is either on the side of the fitting or between the fitting and the tube). Some units have the ballast and starter built into one though.
It is not entirely necessary to remove the ballast before plugging the LED tube in, however if you leave the ballast in, it will use unnecessary power. So we suggest by-passing this and just connecting the fitting wires directly together. The ballast, which the LED tube does not need, may look something like this.
If you have a very old fitting then your ballast may even look something like these:
Once the starter and ballast are bypassed, there should be live on one end and neutral on the other end (both pins on each end) to power the LED tube directly with 220Vac.
The ambient temperature within which these tubes can operate ranges from -20 to +40 degrees Celsius. Whilst they can survive higher operating temperatures their lifespan will be significantly reduced. At the very low temperatures, one will notice that their start up will be slowed. i.e. they will take slightly longer to switch on.
